In the early hours of the morning on the 4th, before the sun rose, Akachi – one leader of the 5th Enchi Infantry – is killed in the converted chapel of Zasarim used as a base of operations in Gulorn, while his counterpart Aeun is taken prisoner. Riots break out throughout the city between Gulorn-loyal guards, local militia, and the remainder of the 5th Enchi Infantry. Several fires break out, and the majority of the 5th Enchi Infantry is either captured by local soldiers, goes into hiding within the city, or peacefully surrenders to the command of Captain, Sir Terrin of Glia. As information disseminates over the following days, it is said that a 300 foot deep hole was scorched into the earth beneath Nathanial and Karena’s bedroom by the blast, and that 17 guards and servants were severely wounded, with almost 30 others requiring minor medical attention. As Holy States forces began to be overwhelmed, Marcella Gotrind, 4 Dragon knights, and the approximately 200 remaining Gotrind soldiers – later referred to as Marcella’s Martyrs – make a sacrificial last-stand against the enemy forces by luring them into the center of the city while a small group of elven rangers use powder kegs and lantern oil to completely surround the entire enemy force with fire. 2/17 Nada’Fan Coastline Coastal Village Raids
Unidentified warships begin raiding coastal villages, confiscating weapons and food, killing horses, and destroying roads, ships, docks, and other infrastructure. 3/4 Nada’Fan Coastline Coastal Patrols Begin
Empress Zhaon Lu Paei orders naval patrols of the Nada’Fan coastline to prevent what she identifies as “Piracy.” A bounty of four Nada’Athi crowns is placed on the head of any pirate, with a bounty of three times as much for known pirate captains.
3/10 – 3/13 Village of Souli, Nada’Fan Coast Battle for the Souli Coast
Nada’Athi vs Idoran Sovereignty
Victory: Idoran Sovereignty
Mid-day on the 10th, a group of Nada’Athi vessels on patrol encounter two unidentified warships in the process of raiding the small coastal village of Souli. Shortly after engaging the enemy vessels, over a dozen vessels blockade the area flying the battle flag of the steel fleet. A battle mage on one of the Nada’Athi ships manages to send a message to the near-by Lisil admiralty. By sun-down on the 10th a Nada’Athi fleet of over 30 ships arrives near Souli and engages the sixteen present vessels of the steel fleet in a heated naval combat less than a mile offshore. Both sides retreat shortly before sunrise, only to re-engage following reinforcements for both groups, followed by further retreats, feints, and other maneuvers over the course of almost four days. The battle concludes on the morning of the 13th when the steel fleet baits the majority of the Nada’Athi forces into an ambush by flanking vessels approaching from the north-east and on-shore cannon snuck into place under the cover of the previous night. In generations to come historians will write volumes about the tactical nuances of this naval battle and analyzing its significance in the war as a whole.
3/15 – 22 Musai, Nada’Fan Siege of Musai Begins
Nada’Athi vs Idoran Sovreignty
Victory: Nada’Athi
Following its victory at Souli, the Steel Fleet moved west along the Nada’Athi coast to the city of Musai. Met with minimal naval resistance, the fleet quickly defeated the city’s offshore defenses. However, due to a significant number of onshore cannon batteries, the fleet instead sends some of its soldiers onshore and establishes a blockade around the entire city and preparing for a long siege. Periodically fleet ships move just inside cannon range to briefly exchange cannon fire with the city before retreating to a safe distance.

The siege was finally broken at sunrise over a week later when an small team of unidentified assailants attacked the flagship of the steel fleet, using magic to board, and sink both the flag ship and two or three other of the fleet’s vessels. This attack was quickly joined by groups of spell-wielding city defenders and shore-side cannon batteries who set about disabling as many of the remaining vessels as possible. Steel-fleet soldiers on land breached the walls of the city amidst the fighting, and began lighting fires to draw potential city defenders away from their posts. In the end the steel fleet was badly crippled, and finally received orders from its 2nd in command to withdraw. Though Musai survived the siege, casualty counts were high and the damage done to the city’s infrastructure would take years to repair.
3/16 Lalsim, Nada’Fan Bombardment of Lalsim
Nada’Athi vs Unidentified Fleet and Assassin(s)

At the same time several unidentified vessels began to enter the bay and bombard the city, targeting guard posts and cannon batteries. Within moments a combat began in the palace complex, signified by lightning and fire raining from the sky – visible across the entire city. Following the attack the palace complex remains closed with only the most loyal of palace guards allowed to come and go for message-bearing purposes.
