Atop the Shoulders of Giants
The Summer Blood Speech
“In the night just passed, seven members of the imperial family were killed by an assassin. Among them were two children, aged nine and seven. The seven year old was killed after seeing her own mother dead.
Several of those killed were so slain in their sleep – the act of a coward.
There is no doubt that this is a strike by the enemies of the Nada’Athi. There is no doubt that this is a sign that the supposed nobility and justice touted by this empire’s enemies are no less than vicious lies from the mouth of a murderer!
This empire has not bombarded a city. The Holy States began its invasion of the Obsidian Isles by indiscriminately bombarding the city of Bracano, killing hundreds of civilians.
This empire has not used bombs in public places. The Holy States bombed a public execution in Port First in Enchi during their invasion of that city despite having a standing army ready to assail the gates.
This empire has not murdered children in their beds! But this morning a seven year old and a nine year old lie DEAD solely because their deaths are a convenient facilitation of a plan for invasion!
No longer will the people of the Nada’Athi empire tolerate the lies of King Nathanial.
No longer will the people of the Nada’Athi empire tolerate the corruption of King Nathanial.
No longer will the people of the Nada’Athi empire tolerate the transgressions of King Nathanial.
From this day forward, all officers of the Nada’Athi armed forces is authorized to pay a bounty of one hundred crowns to any person who produces information which leads to the arrest or enemy spies and agents, or the thwarting of enemy plots, and may pay a bounty of one hundred and twenty crowns to any person who can show proof that they have taken the life of an officer in the armies or navies of the Holy States.
Such person needs no treaty, no writ of association, no charter for military action. From today until this war is ended, this empire declares an open season on Holy States military officers, traitors, and spies. Gods alone may have mercy upon them."
